" An unreliable test offers no advantage over randomly assigning test scores to students" (Wollack and Wells 2012).
It is important to understand that as teachers, we will be using various forms of assessments to test our student's competency in specific subject areas.
"An Instructor's Guide to Understanding Test Reliability"
Craig S. Wells & James A. Wollack
A major influence in our research regarding the reliability of assessments came from Wells and Wollack's collaborative paper "An Instructor's Guide to Understanding Test Reliability". They were able to understand a reliable assessment based off of statistical evidence: including, "Cronbach's Alpha" and "Point Bi-serial Correlation". While further research is being done to understand reliability in other forms of assessment (not strictly multiple choice), this paper gives valid support to how assessment reliability can be enforced within the classroom.
